Our Mission

Literacy is a key for socio-economic progress, and the Indian literacy rate has grown to 79.31% (2011 census). Despite government programmes, India's literacy rate increased only "sluggishly". The 2011 census, indicated a 2001–2011 decadal literacy growth of 9.2%, which is slower than the growth seen during the previous decade. An old analytical 1990 study estimated that it would take until 2060 for India to achieve universal literacy at then-current rate of progress. Do you really want to wait these many years? Also, what we feel is all the problems of a Country like Poverty, Criminalism, Racism etc can be solved if the citizens of the Country are well Educated. Our aim is to grow children into productive citizens that use their knowledge, talents, and learned skills to sustain themselves and help others while pushing the human race forward in areas of equality, equity, and harmony.

Nanhe Khwab Charitable Trust is a registered organization under the Bombay Public Trusts Act, 1950. Our work is largely volunteer-driven, supported by two dedicated teachers who provide daily instruction. We are devoted to empowering underprivileged children through education, with operations in Delhi/NCR, Gurgaon, Pune, and Mumbai.

A key part of our mission is our partnership with Pragati School in Gurgaon, under the NGO AID. Pragati School provides foundational education to children aged 5-12 from disadvantaged backgrounds. When these students are ready for formal schooling, we facilitate their transition by identifying suitable schools, securing sponsorships, and ensuring they have the necessary resources to succeed.

Beyond academics, we are committed to holistic development. We organize mentoring programs, offer additional tutoring, and create opportunities for extracurricular engagement, ensuring each child’s educational journey is enriched with support and care.

Priya Sharma

Software Engineer

A coder by profession, a social worker by passion. For the past ten years, I’ve dedicated my time and energy to improving the lives of underprivileged children. My journey began when I met Vikas, a young boy working at a grocery store in my neighborhood. I started teaching him at home, and today, after ten years, he has completed his 12th grade and is now employed at a good company, living a life of dignity. From that moment, my commitment to this cause has never wavered. In my free time, I love exploring the world, whether solo, with my partner, or with my dog, always on the lookout for the next adventure.

Chartered Accountant

Inspired by my elder sister, I was drawn to the idea of establishing our own NGO to contribute to the betterment of society. My sister and I collaborate to brainstorm innovative ways to create opportunities for underprivileged children. She dedicates her time to volunteering in Gurgaon, while I do the same in Mumbai. When I'm not working or volunteering, you'll often find me either surrounded by the serenity of mountains or hitting the gym, staying active and engaged in various pursuits.
